Words are Not Enough: Sensorimotor Interventions for Suicidality among Adults, Adolescents and Children

led by Dr. Pat Ogden & Dr. Bonnie Goldstein
Co-Sponsored by Lifespan Learning Institute

Discover the significance of the «somatic narrative” as a critical factor in suicidality, helplessness, hopelessness and despair. Follow along as you gain the knowledge of the somatic elements that contribute to suicidality and how to address these elements in psychotherapy practice with suicidal clients to increase their self-esteem, confidence, and relational skills.

Upon completion of the activity participants will be able to:

  • Determine three bodily cues that can indicate hopelessness, helplessness and despair in session
  • Assess the role of the body in generating and maintaining depression in psychotherapy with adults, children and adolescents in clinical settings
  • Analyze the efficacy of working with the body to improve clinical outcome in treatment of suicidal adults, children and adolescents
  • Demonstrate three body-oriented interventions and their clinical implications for treating suicidality and related emotions in adults, children and adolescents.
  • Distinguish the role of mindfulness in adult, child and adolescent treatment from “talk therapy.”

Upon registration you will receive access to:

  • A downloadable PDF of the slide presentation
  • Accessible replay of the recorded presentation
  • Practical intervention techniques and tools you can apply immediately
