Details
My name is Marina Pizarro Santano. I’m a health psychologist in the north of Spain. For a few years, I worked as part of a team to support women and children impacted by gender-based violence. I have completed studies in CBT, EMDR, Sensorimotor and ACT therapies.
Would you like to learn a bit more about me?
Since my adolescence, I have dealt with stressful life events, such as serious illnesses and deaths. It seems that being a companion is something I carry within me. Despite my desire to study Psychology at the age of 18, life led me to study Social Work at UPNA so I could accompany my mother during her chemotherapy cycles. Three cancers later resulted in metastasis. My whole life was preparing for my mother’s death. However, life sometimes gets creative. After 9 years of struggle and companionship, my father was diagnosed with another cancer and died 2 years later.
And you may ask, what does this have to do with me?
This made me gain perspective on life. I am a person who is passionate about psychology, but above all, I am that, a person. With its setbacks, incongruities, and internal struggles.
I am the greatest expert on myself, and I believe my patients are too. You are the greatest expert on yourself. I will try to be a beacon and navigate your storms alongside you, at your pace, without judgment. Without forgetting that the helm is yours.
