SensoriMotor Psychotherapy is difficult to describe. Your MIND might be wanting to UNDERSTAND. The best way to learn is to have a few sessions to have an EXPERIENCE of what working with your BODY really means. We pay attention to sensation, experience, emotion (e-motion, or energy in motion), posture, movement, spontaneity and your 5 senses. All of these parts of you are in flux when you are in fight or flight or freeze or flop responses. As we become aware of these aspects of you, you gain the ability to recognise where you are and then to change where you are (ie move from disregulated/disturbed/shutdown to regulated/calm/present/available)
Talking therapy gives us an immediate hit of allowing us to tell our story and make links and understand and find answers via thoughts, We hopefully feel better afterwards. But it may not last. And the expansion and contraction and freeze habits in your body are unlikely to be addresssed purely by talking.
