I am an Accredited Play/Creative Arts Therapist; Pre-accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a Certificate in Environmental Art Therapy and with additional Sand, Art, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Prolonged Grief disorder training. I completed a Masters in Bereavement and Loss and I work with both adults and children on a one-to-one and group basis. I work therapeutically from a Rogerian, Jungian and Existential perspective. I believe that each person has the tools within themselves to heal.
The therapeutic relationship is the most important factor within the therapy room. I adhere to the core conditions of being present, empathic, non-judgemental and congruent.
Working with clients and having the ability to be whatever they need at a particular time, is soul/spiritual work, especially if it is brought out into nature.
My main therapeutic space in Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow is in a woodland setting which brings an immediate connection with nature. In conjunction with talk therapy the three main creative media that I work with are Sand, Clay and Nature. I completed a Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma Themes course to enable me to work with a client’s present moment experiences in the body in order to help them to process past traumatic events. My main area of interest and work are in the areas of grief and loss and working with those who have a chronic illness or who have had surgery resulting in a body image change.
