Trauma often leaves a wake of confusion and inner chaos. = Inner conflict and intense distress that is unshakable occurs long after leaving the painful situation. Most of us do well to just keep functioning and doing our best, and eventually for most of us, that runs out. The people pleasing becomes too painful. The anger and irritability too strong. The anxiety starts to break through the functioning. Relationship problems become apparent and depression may fluctuate with the anxiety. There may be periods of collapse or more dissociative experiences may become prevalent. Strange body sensations may arise, or odd pains.
Many people who come to see me also are not aware of having experienced any trauma, and yet experience these same kind of distressing inner experiences. These folks too discover an entirely different way to live their lives by our work together.
I practice somatic trauma therapy that addresses the root cause behind the dysregulation and distress so many of us feel. It's not necessary to understand the mechanisms behind or experience, or the why to get started. What's most important is that you feel ready and eager to start doing the work to feel better.
I mostly work with therapists and also see artists, medical professionals, and spiritual practitioners.
