Catherine Ann Lucas; BAppSc Psych; MEd; Reg Play Therapist

My name is Cathy Lucas, I am a Registered Play Therapist, Sandplay Practitioner and Sexual Assault Counsellor. I hold a Bachelor in Applied Science (Psych); M.Ed and specialise in working with children and adolescents. I currently work at a Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Alice Springs where I have worked for the past eight years. I also work with adults and families who have either experienced sexual abuse or know someone who has experienced sexual abuse. I am also a qualified Protective Behaviours Practitioner.

I have extensive experience in the Post Separation area as a Child Consultant for Mediation and Counsellor/Play Therapist for children who are experiencing a family separation. I have also worked in New Zealand providing psychoeducation for parents mandated to complete parenting programmes in the community and in the prison sector. I have worked extensively
in the alcohol and drug sector in New Zealand - in Christchurch prisons and in the community, providing counselling and psychoeducation for people experiencing alcohol and drug difficulties and for the City Mission with people of all ages experiencing difficulties with alcohol and drugs.

I have completed further training in Somatic/Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Expressive Therapies, Art Therapy, Drumming, Narrative Therapy, Strengths Based Therapy and Transactional Analysis.
