I draw from different approaches in order to listen effectively to your individual experiences.I provide a safe ,confidential non-judgemental and empathetic space for you to explore ,understand and cope with life's difficulties. My approach is integrative and relational which means I work collaboratively with you and your unique experiences.
I have developed a particular interest in Polyvagel Theory (Steven Porges 1994).Clients with a history of trauma can often experience more extreme autonomic responses which in turn can affect their ability to feel safe and connect with others. Learning about our own autonomic nervous systems opens the door to self-compassion. We are all faced with a dilemma of balancing the drive to survive with the longing to connect with an other.
Having completed my EMDR training I am working towards my EMDR accreditation.
