Prior to becoming a registered psychologist, Sheryl enjoyed a 25-year career as a registered nurse in both Alberta and B.C., with experience ranging from critical care and cardiology to family medicine. She completed her undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Calgary, and her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.
Building upon her acute interest in biology and neurobiology, Sheryl’s focus is on the innate mind, body, and spiritual connection, as well as the impact of stress, and how self-awareness supports healing. Sheryl has worked alongside individuals who have experienced acute and developmental trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, as well as life transition, including relationship and parenting support.
Sheryl fundamentally believes in healing and growth through a genuine, non-judgemental, and authentic connection, that is both client-focused and strength-based. Sheryl confidently integrates several modalities into treatment including mindfulness, sensorimotor, narrative, patterns of attachment, and Polyvagal theory. Sheryl is both trained in Attachment-focused EMDR and Level 1 Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Her warm energy and sincere compassion are the foundation of her practice.
